The birth anniversary of our founder, philanthropist, R P Shaha, is observed on 15 November. Every year the birth anniversary is happily celebrated by members of Kumudini family with the participation of the inhabitants of Mirzapur village and the guests.
The term “Kumudini family” includes not only the members of R P Shaha family but also the various organizations of Kumudini Welfare Trust. The organizations included are Kumudini Hospital, Bharateswari Homes, Kumudini Women’s Medical College, Kumudini Nursing School & College, Kumudini Pharma Ltd, Ranada Prasad Shaha University, to name a few.
To celebrate the birth anniversary several programmes are arranged which continue from dawn to dusk. In fact, many of the programmes start on the night before. On the night of 14th November students of Bharateswari Homes cross the river on boat to reach the ancestral home of R.P. Shaha for decorating it with flowers and colours.
In the early morning, the students of Bharateswari Homes, doctors of Kumudini Hospital, teachers and students of Kumudini Women’s Medical College, Kumudini Nursing School & College, people from adjacent areas and guests congregate at the ancestral home of our beloved founder.
Students from the Medical College arrange a blood donation programme. There in the presence of all a birthday cake is cut. The members of R.P. Shaha family distribute improved diet among the patients. Managing Director, KWT, Mr.Rajiv Prasad Shaha, Directors, Ms. Protiva Mutsuddy and Mrs. Srimati Shaha also take part in food distribution.
In the evening, a colourful cultural programme is arranged on the grounds of Bharateswari Homes. Students of Bharateswari Homes carry out a march past followed by drill display for the chief guest. A documentary film on the life of R.P. Shaha is screened and the speech of the Honorable PM delivered during her visit to Kumudini is also broadcast. The chief guest, along with other guests, also goes round the display of projects arranged by the science, geography, business studies, literary and cultural clubs.
In the end, the guests are invited to a dinner with the students of Bharateswari Homes.
